More Snow.

So all last week we had to miss out a week of school because the snow became so heavy and it began to snow all the time. The week was really good building snowmen and having snowball fights :)
But since it was hard to get through the snow and it was really cold there wasn't much else we could do outside and we couldn't go anywhere because most of the bus services had stopped completley.
We're only back in school now but it's still snowing pretty badly and I don't think we should be in school :) Some people still can't make it into school. Hopefully we'll get a few more days off.

Work Experience

Its nearly a week back now from our work experience and I think everyone is still pretty tired from it all :L

For my work experience I went to work in Scoil Naomh Brid in Celbridge, I got to experience what it is really like to be a primary school teacher. I got sent to a junior infants class so I was pretty happy about that.
During the week I got to help the kids with anything they needed help with and I would do any jobs the teacher needed me to do for her. Also I had to type up worksheets for the kids and timetables. I found out that primary school teachers do a lot more work then I thought originally, I didn't know that they had to stay back after school and do planning for the next day.

After everyday there would always be some work to do and at the end of the day I was always pretty tired. But from this experience I learned a lot about myself and about being a primary school teacher.

Overall I enjoyed my experience and would consider being a primary school teacher as a career choice.

Back :)

Today is our first day back after midterm and I think everyone is pretty tired since last night was Halloween and most people were out (: . Personally mine was really good and I hope everyone elses was as well. Halloween was on a Sunday this year so there was no sleepovers and no staying out late :( This year the fireworks in my estate were rally cool, they were going off one by one and it was like a proper firework show. My midterm was really good this year and I finally saw Paranormal Activity 2 which was actually good and way better than the first one and also it was pretty scary :L.

Our first week of work experience is next week and I think everyone is pretty excited to start. I'm going to my local primary school Scoil Naomh Brid, where I also went to primary school so i'l be seeing some familiar faces :) I'm excited to go back there and to see what its like to be a primary school teacher.

Accord

Yesterday we got a talk from a woman who came into us from Accord to talk to us about relationships, sexuality, our bodies etc and anything we wanted to discuss with her. I think most of us thought it would be really awkward and kinda weird to have someone to come into us to talk about these topics with us.

The woman who came in was called Laura and she was really nice and funny and didn't make things feel awkward or uncomfortable at all :). It was really easy to ask her anything and to talk to her. During our time with her she allowed us to write down whatever we would want to talk about or any questions we wanted to ask her, I think it put peoples minds at ease if they had any questions or clear up any confusion that people might of felt towards certain things.

I learned a lot from Laura that I didn't know, I learned a lot of helpful things from her and I think everyone is a little more comfortable with themselves and less worried if they had any problems etc.

'Colour Me Beautiful'

On Friday the 15th 2 women called Liz and Louise came into us to talk about what colours suited us best, what style type we were and the things you should do while buying clothes.
I found them helpful because they helped me to understand what colours can look okay on you but which colours can really make you stand out better. We got sheets with boxes to tick which would tell us about what colours suited us best and what style personality we were. They told me that the colours that suited me best were soft colours and that my style personality was girly, romantic :L and feminine :)
Also they gave us advice for when we're shopping like: Don't buy the clothes if they don't fit you, don't buy anything you think you can only wear once and to make sure you like the clothes your buying :)
The women were very nice and funny and they didn't make you feel nervous at all. We had a great time with them and I think everyone benefited from the advice in some way or other.

Carlingford Trip TY :D

The whole TY experience really began for me when we went to Carlingford for our TY Carlingford trip. We left very early on Monday morning and when we got there we we got ready to start our activities :)

Our first activity was a challenge course, where we got to decide what challenges we wanted to complete. The best one in my opinion was the Communication Breakdown. In this challenge we were put into a maze in a storage container, we had to go in one way and crawl around 3 different levels to try and get back out again. At some stages in the container we had to stop and try to figure out how to get out, it took us a while since in was pitch black inside and you were always bumping your head of the ceiling.

Later on in the day we went down to do some canoeing in the sea, it was really fun, we tied 3 canoes together and got in the sea with them. When we finished with canoes everyone decided to jump of the pier into the water :) It was so much fun.

When we got back from canoeing etc we had lunch and we out again for a hike in the mountains. The hike up the mountains was very tiring but luckily for us the hike didn't last that long. When we were walking back there was a tunnel running through the village and you were able to go inside the tunnel and walk to the end of it. Everyone was pretty excited to do it, but none of us realised how dark and tight space it would be. As we were walking through the tunnel the water started to get deeper and it became darker. But I really enjoyed the tunnel it was really fun for me anyways :L

After we got back from the hike and walking through the tunnel a bunch of us walked down to the Chinese to get some dinner :) It tasted so good and was so nice to have something hot to eat.

Later on we all decided to go to sleep since we were all wrecked from all the activities.

The next morning we were up early and packing as soon as we were up since there was another school arriving. Later on in the day we all went of to do another hike up the mountains except this hike took 3 hours and everyone was tired and hungry :L But when we came back from the hike our bus was there and we arrived home soon enough.

Overall it was a good trip and I enjoyed it very much, I think it helped people get to know others better :)
